Feb 5th (Post State of the Union Address)
(CWP)-
- Please have the students hand back the assignment in which they took notes on the State of the Union. As they will use it later in the period.
- Handout the article. Tell the students that they will have about 20 minutes to read and write a 2-3 paragraph reaction to the article. (Please feel free to lead a discussion about the article.) After your discussion please collect the reactions to the article.Click here for the online link for the article.
- Next have the students get into groups of 3. Have them look at their notes from the State of the Union. In their small groups tell them to figure out what their group feels are the top 3 issues/concerns that President Obama talked about. What are the students concerns about the issues. Also as a group what are some realistic solutions to the problem. Also, have them consider any issues that they feel that the President missed and should have addressed. What were some of the key over arching themes that Obama was trying to get across? They will present this first thing Thursday.
- If there is anytime that is left over please feel free to show the news. Click here for the news.
